Land as an asset class represents a very unique
investment. Unlike stocks and bonds, most owners and their families have a
strong emotional attachment to their land. Perhaps it was inherited; maybe they
spent their summers there; or they grew up on the farm or ranch or in the local
community. Regardless of the connection, non-operating landowners often wish to
pass their land on to the next generation as a way of preserving their family
history, a tie to their roots, and a great investment!
Today the
agricultural environment is rapidly changing, making it difficult for
landowners to stay current on new prices and trends. This may even be the
golden era for this business! With this in mind, our 2012 landowner workshop
will focus on ways that landowners can improve, maintain, and preserve their
land legacy for the next generation. Last year's workshop series brought a
record crowd of just over 2,400 landowners. This year's attendance will likely
