"Farmers National has managed our farms for about 33 years. In that tiime, they've transformed a sleepy family operation, farming about 1,100 acres in each of Iowa and Illinois, into a very successful farming operation and from a 100% crop-share model, into a 100% "custom" farming business plan. FNC's effects on our family's operations have been numerous." -- J Wilson, FNC customer since 1982
"Your top-notch year-end report reflects the quality performance you have delivered on our behalf. We have the feeling that you run our operation as if you were working your own land. We certainly do appreciate that and look forward to working with you each year." -- Bill Richards
"Over the past decade, my sister and I have worked with Scott. Scott has gone the extra 500 miles for me every time. Without going into detail, Scott has never dropped a ball - and I’ve tossed plenty his way. Scott’s reports are great. He’s on top of insurance issues and claims, farm subsidies, contracts, farm improvements - and explains as much as you want, whenever you want. He answers phone calls and emails typically at the speed of light - and he doesn’t retire an issue until I’m clear and satisfied. Scott knows Iowa farming through and through. I trust him.I sleep well at night knowing he’s got an eye on things. I recommend him highly and without reservation." -- Leslie Chatham
"I was impressed with the condition of the land and how things looked well cared for. I am very pleased with the reports and the business-like way you handle the account." -- Richard Evans
"(In 2000) when we started working with Scott, we were so impressed by his knowledge of farming, his ability to communicate skillfully with both renters and owners, his fairness, his respect for the land, his attention to detail, and his kindness. Throughout our association with Scott, he has gone "above and beyond" our expectations, and we want you to know that he makes Farmers National look good! During the past year he did a tremendous job of overseeing the sale of our farm. My sister and I truly loved the farm, and it was with deep reluctance that we sold it. Scott continued his long-standing professional excellence in the way he handled the sale, and we credit him with its success." -- Potter Family
I was contacted by a landowner to review the property and liability insurance on his farm. Further discussion revealed he cash leased his farm and received a nominal fee for his barns and buildings. Since his cash rental rate was well below the market, limited funds had been available for maintenance and improvements to the barns and buildings.
I recommended a production plan where we would custom operate the farm and use a portion of the increased profit to enhance the building site. The first year we nearly doubled his farm income. Funds are now available for building site renovation. We are also investigating buffer strips along a stream that meanders across a portion of the farm. These strips will enhance conservation for not only his farm, but also overall water quality of that entire stream.
As we begin planning for the next crop season, we are utilizing grid soil tests to apply only the recommended amounts of fertilizer in the exact field location for maximum crop benefit. I negotiated “new farmer” discounts on his seed order to lower his input costs and have made some forward crop sales at profitable levels so we are well on our way to another very profitable crop year.
This individual, who has had little contact with his farm for many years, is now excited for the summer so he can come up and visit “his crop”!
